Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I'm appealing to drop CLST 129 because I've experienced a lot of things beyond my control that have severely impacted my ability to complete the course. In the fall term of this course I was under a lot of stress from trying to care for my sister in Toronto. She is mentally ill and was experiencing delusions and I needed to be available for her phone calls all the time; I missed class a lot, and was unable to write tests. This term has been the same situation. She did have a suicide attempt this term as well, which required me to go to Toronto very suddenly. Our mother passed away a year ago and it's been incredibly difficult trying to deal with my own anxieties surrounding the situation, but it's been even harder trying to provide support for my sister from Kingston. I have been in contact with the counselling department in regards to all of these issues, and am currently trying to find ways to help support myself through this so that my grades don't continue to suffer.
