Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Hello,
My name is Arjun Jindal, I am a fourth year psychology student at Queen¿¿s University. Due to medical circumstances, I am appealing to drop the following two courses from the 2016 winter semester:
1. PSYC334
2. CLST201
I do not wish to drop my other course, PSYC501 (Honours Thesis), as my supervisor (Dr. Ronald Holden) and the Psychology Department have agreed to let me continue with my thesis project during the 2016 summer semester and, if necessary, into the fall.
I have recently (March 2016) suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident that has exacerbated a concussion I received in July 2015. The injury prevents me from reading, writing, concentrating, and engaging in other cognitively demanding activities, preventing me from completing my coursework. I have spoken with my doctor who has written a letter documenting the injury (attached) and advised that I focus on recovery for the next few months. Due to the nature of brain injuries, it is uncertain exactly when I will be fully healthy again. However, my doctor believes September 2016 is a realistic goal.
It is my hope that my condition will improve quickly over the summer and that I will be able to resume my studies in the 2016 fall semester.
I have attached my doctor¿¿s note detailing my recent injury in March 2016 as well as a letter he wrote in September 2015 concerning my previous concussion (in case it is of interest).
Please feel free to contact me should you require any additional information. Thank you,
Arjun Jindal
