Letter of Appeal to the Associate Dean (Studies)
Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard:
My name is Tiffany Lau and I am a current student at Queen¿¿s University. I am writing to you in the hopes of obtaining permission to request a retroactive Letter of Permission. I completed an online course (ECON 330) through Athabasca in the Fall of 2014 with the intent of transferring the credit equivalent to a Queen¿¿s ECON 200 level credit. I, however, did not submit a Letter of Permission prior to taking the Athabasca course. I apologize to you and to Queen¿¿s for causing this inconvenience and not following proper procedure. In 2014, I had tried to fill a remaining elective without serious thought into required steps.
Initially beginning my 1st year of undergraduate studies at Queen¿¿s in the Fall of 2010, I had originally declared Geography as my major, but later switched to Applied Economics in my 4th year. As of Dec 2015, I have finally completed all of my BAH elective requirements as well as my required economics courses, with the exception of 3 units of 200 level ECON credits. I had planned for the Athabasca ECON 330 credit to fill that requirement only to realize more recently that I cannot transfer the credit without a Letter of Appeal. I have started working full-time 9-5 in Toronto, ON and would have difficulty balancing another school course in addition to my work. I am asking you to please allow me to request a retroactive Letter of Permission so that I can apply to graduate with a BAH.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Lau
