Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am requesting an extension of the course CHEM281 - General Organic Chemistry with instructors Dr. David Zechel and Dr. John Carran. I had completed all of the course work for CHEM281 in the Fall semester of 2015 however, during the final examination, I had gotten very ill, and Dr. Carran had told me to write the final exam in the following Winter 2016 semester instead. I have been in contact with both professors and have been communicating with Dr. Zechel in regards to writing the exam this last semester however, I was not able to complete it in time due to extenuation circumstances. My mom, Eve Cwik has terminal cancer and I have been returning back and forth from home in Calgary, Alberta to Kingston - where I had completed a full semester's course load during which her numerous chemo treatments and emergencies had taken place. Unfortunately, as much as I had tried to find a time that worked accordingly - even after my exams, I was not able to write the final exam during this chaotic semester and am supporting my family and mother who needs full attention and help everyday this summer. I have however, communicated this with Dr. Zechel and am requesting an extension to write the exam upon my return for the Fall 2016 semester in September. I have also been in contact with Michelle Gallant and with Queen's Wellness where Julia Blackstock has encouraged and helped me greatly.

I will attach the extenuating documents of support and I am more than willing to provide additional information or documentation if necessary. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you.

Best wishes,
