Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear associate dean.
My name is Minseok. I am an international student. currently just finishing up my second year at queens (first year academic status). My current GPA is at 0.45. Depending on the grades from the courses that I¿¿ve just completed this year, there is a slight possibility I might be asked to withdraw from queens for a year. So I¿¿m writing this letter to drop the failed grades from my first and second year without penalty because of the difficult circumstances that I have had in the last two years. The courses that I'm requesting to drop are as follow: GNDS 125, BIO 103,FREN P11, and MUSC 102. Moreover, I also feel the need to appeal for credit standing in POLS 110 because I strongly believe that the grade that I earned in the first half of the course doesn¿¿t truly reflect my academic performance, and was heavily affected by some circumstances. Therefore, in addition to my course drop appeal, if possible, I would also like to request for credit standing in POLS 110 ( First half semester).
In my first and second year, I¿¿ve been having some challenges regarding my personal development issues, and because of this I¿¿ve been struggling with depression and lack of motivation which created a condition for me that was very difficult to focus on academics. This prevented me from doing a substantial amount of work, for example I did not submit certain assignments in some courses including a major portion of the grade that comes from research papers. Also I have encountered social problems relating to my ethnic background on campus which contributed a significant role to the issue and which also brought my confidence down significantly. Without going too much into depth, Intersectionality has been one of my issues at queens, and I would not doubt the possibility that this has been affecting my entire stay at queens. I much regret the time that I have wasted at queens, and also wish that I have looked out for help sooner. Also if I'm asked to withdraw from queens for a year, I m not so quite confident that I would have the motivation to continue school once I come back since I would have completed my two year mandatory military service in Korea. Therefore it is my conclusion that I must start working on these issues before it¿¿s too late.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Despite these circumstances. I feel that I am more than capable of being successful in academics now that I know what I want to peruse regarding my academics ( politics ), which will give me more motivation and focus. To ameliorate things, I will work closely with Dr.arunima, chaplain Kate, and QUIC staff who have given me help in the past and will also follow up with my doctor. I will try to get involved in communities that can support me. Also I will regularly check up with professors to increase my interest in courses. I'm now feeling more motivated and stable that I think I am ready to focus on my academics and I¿¿d be very grateful if these circumstances can be taken into account for consideration of my appeal. Thanks.
