Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing this letter of appeal to have my ENGL 100 fall-winter 2015-2016 course dropped and struck from my record as a student at Queens University.
By doing this, I can continue my studies with Queens University.
I had begun my online studies with Queens in the fall of 2015 and choose to take ENGL 100, with Dr. May. At the time I was living in Calgary, Alberta. Due to extenuating circumstances, I moved to Victoria, B.C. shortly after beginning the course and successfully changed all pertinent information, including my exam centre.
While in Victoria, I received an attractive job offer to teach in a prestigious preparatory school in Lima, Peru and decided to take the job, hence, I am presently residing in Lima.
Although my grades were fine in the ENGL 100 course with Dr. May, to my chagrin and surprise, I found out that during my somewhat hectic, protracted and stressful international move to Peru, I had missed the deadline to change the final exam centre to one here, soliciting the need for an online proctor. As a consequence, I was not able to write the final exam, thus receiving a zero as a final grade. This, coupled with my other scores apparently caused me to not pass the course.
I have spoken with Dr. May and Mr. David Youssef and they said I could take the course again, so I enrolled, paying the full price, again. I started the course, participated in the first online symposium then, when I went in to moodle to post my first assignment, I had the surprise I had been withdrawn from the course. Although I have not received a final grade for the first ENGL 100 course, and according to Mr. Youssef, I was withdrawn for not achieving a high enough GPA (due to not taking the final exam).
I would like to continue with my studies and am very motivated and pleased to be studying at Queens. I appreciate your consideration and time in this matter and very much looking forward to hearing from you soon.
