Petition Letter

Petition Letter: My name is Philip Roe and I am appealing the Faculty's Requirement to Withdraw from Studies for 1 year. I am currently 12 credits shy of graduating. I am currently enrolled in 3 Summer courses which comprise 12 credits between them. Should I complete these three courses with a mark of A or above in each of them, I will have fulfilled my course work for the BA History General Degree, and my GPA will be raised above the 1.6 needed to graduate. The Requirement to Withdraw was levied against me because my GPA has fallen below 1.6; I am confident that I will be able to raise my GPA above the standard of 1.6 by excelling in these summer courses.

In my past academic career, I have been effected by both General Anxiety Disorder and Major Depression. I was diagnosed with both of these disorders by my primary doctor, Dr. Steven Rothman, in 2010, and I have provided letters from Dr. Rothman to the Faculty in the past. Both of these mood disorders have made academic success difficult for me. Since the 2016 Winter Semester ended I have again sought counselling in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to try to manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and to aid me in reaching my academic goals.

Since my graduation is now within reach, and I am taking steps to manage the symptoms of my mood disorders, I am asking the Faculty to grant my appeal to lift the Requirement to Withdraw for 1 year, so that I can finish my courses this summer, and graduate.
Thank you for taking the time to read my appeal, and please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I am currently making personal adjustments to reach my goal of completing my Bachelor of Arts (History General) Degree.
My Academic Plan is relatively straightforward, because, if I am successful, this Spring-Summer Semester will be my last before graduation.
I am currently seeking Clinical Behavioural Therapy treatments to manage the symptoms of anxiety and depression that have held me back in completing coursework on time in the past.
As well, I have received accommodations at my full-time job so that I have the necessary time to complete my coursework when it is necessary.
I am confident that, with my accommodations at work and my CBT treatments I will be able to complete my summer coursework, raise my GPA above 1.6, and graduate in the fall.
