Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I was previously unaware of the appeal process and believed that the councillor, Tonya Bauermann, I had met with in early April would be dealing with the appeal. There was a miscommunication between her and I and as a result I am sending the appeal now as opposed to have being sent in April. The letters she sent in April are intended to support this appeal. In addition, I have now also been admitted into North York General Hospital's day program for individuals dealing with depression and anxiety as a result of everything that has happened throughout the past year.
See I believe in passion, in growth and most importantly in meaning. In the words of Victor E. Frankl, mans true meaning is to be discovered in the world rather his own psyche and unfortunately for me, this year was the exact opposite. These past two semesters have been extremely difficult to say the least. And by difficult I mean mentally, physically and psychologically strenuous.
To begin with, I found the transition from first year to second year quite challenging as I was at the BISC last year. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the castle academically and extracurricularly. I was heavily involved with events in and around the castle including the arts, athletics and was also an executive member of the student government acting as the transportation liaison as I was an eager explorer and avid traveler. However, during my transition back to main campus things changed drastically. I was held back from taking part and joining extracurricular activities and more importantly was derailed from succeeding in my studies. There are few things in life that should hold an individual back from achieving their true potential and not one of them should be a toxic and unhealthy relationship. Not only did this relationship cause me to lose control of my academics but also forced me into isolation and as a result I was alienated from my friends and any social activity on campus. I felt as though I was trapped within the bars of a mental prison, of the dungeon of my own psyche, unable to break free from the walls I built to protect myself.
Prior to the commencement of the school year the same relationship had gotten to the point where authorities were involved, consequently continuing to add more needless stress to my already busy life and further derailing my academics. As a result, the purpose of this academic appeal letter is to ask for the grades of the fall and winter semesters not to appear on my transcript, to fully wipe the year. Given the situation and extenuating circumstances that occurred during this past year, I am hoping that this appeal will be thoughtfully considered, as it will allow me the freedom to begin again, to have a fresh start, a clean slate. This will enable me to bring my academic record to the level of standing it was initially intended to be at. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
