Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am writing because I have recently been suffering from a family issue. During the middle of June, my brother who lives in Toronto got into a car accident and is now facing a criminal charge. Since then, the family has been under so much shock and pressure.

I live and work in Kingston, and I do not own a car, so it is really inconvenient for me to go to Toronto. However, to show support for my brother, I have been traveling back and forth between Kingston and Toronto. After the incident, we were both very busy meeting with different lawyers. In addition to that, my brother's car was tolled away by the police and we spent an entire day trying get it out. This and the lawyers fee added up have exhausted my parents financially. Therefore, I have been working more than usual in order to support my own finance.

The incident has given us a serious mental and physical pressure and due to this, I have already missed a couple of assignments for BCHM 218. Yet, the stress is rolling up bigger as the court date for my brother is coming up really soon (13th July.)

Under this condition, I do not feel confident to perform well in the rest of the course. Thus, I humbly ask to withdraw from this course.
