Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Associate Dean,

I am writing an appeal today in order to be able to take my final three credits for my Socy BAH through Athabasca. Department head Martin Hand already knows this was my plan and was very helpful in planning this. I just do not want to return to Kingston for one last semester as that would be a much larger expense than simply finishing the courses online during the next few months while i live at home.

I only need two credits left for my BAH, however one of the credits I need is a social science instead of sociology course at Athabasca, requiring me to take a third course in order to finish the degree. The other one i must take is simply a level 200+ sociology elective.

Completing these courses online would save me both time and money and allow me to begin my professional career sooner so I am appealing for permission to do this. Everyone I've spoken with in the Sociology department was supportive and helpful of this plan as it is the shortest and most common sense route to take from this point.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Take 2 sociology 200+ electives (Athabasca)
Take Social research methods - social science course (Athabasca)

The above is all that is required for me to complete my Socy BAH
