I am writing you to request a formal appeal of my recent academic result in Psychology 100, PSYC 100 - Principles of Psychology completed through the Distance Studies program, Summer Term 2016.

The request is for a review and remark of the short answer section of my final examination.

I am requesting an appeal as I have been unable to have the Professor review the section. I have communicated with her and made the request through email but was told that they were not willing to review the material.

I have provided the email correspondence with my Professor.

I believe I have legitimate grounds to request the remark of this section. I have been an active participant in the course, active in all dialogues and forums. My marks for the course are as follows:

Peer Scholar Assignments: 81.95
Written Individual assignments: 78.57
Online Discussions: 87.50
Online Quizzes: 95
Proctored Mid Term: 63.60
Proctored Final Exam: 44.17
Multiple choice: 70
Short Answer: 31.25

I take my studies very seriously and understand that the Professor and TA take the review and marking of exams seriously as well. I have reviewed the comments from the TA and I don't believe that I have received full credit for my answers on questions 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Although I may have omitted some terms, I believe that my answers demonstrate my understanding of the material. In one case the comments indicated that I had a nice start to my argument and showed an understanding of the issue but on that question I received zero marks of 4 possible on the whole question. Also my performance of 70 in the multiple choice section also demonstrates I have a sound knowledge of the material.

I recognize and understand the requirement to pass the final exam in order to pass the course. Based on my performance on the final exam, an additional 1.75 marks, translates to 40 on the short essay section and 50 on the final exam. An additional 2 marks translates to a 41.25 on the short essay section and 50.8 on the final exam. Both outcomes would result in me passing the course.

I took the summer course to get ahead of my studies. I am a Varsity athlete, playing for the Queen's Women's hockey team. During this summer I worked full time at TD Bank, trained 3-5 times per week for hockey, and completed a book review for the hockey program in addition to the summer course. I understand that I did not have the best performance on the short answer section but I believe the information I provided in this section did demonstrate my understanding of the course concepts. Should my appeal be granted and the exam reviewed, I believe I have the answers required to obtain the marks necessary to pass the course.
Should the review not result in a pass of the exam and the course, I plan to retake the course during the school term and have already enrolled in the program as a preventative measure.
