Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to appeal for an aggregate standing for BIOL 111 due to illness and the recent diagnosis of an autoimmune disease.
I did not write the exams for these classes due to complications that arose related to my aforementioned condition, resulting in my admission to the hospital for 9 days. This hospital stay included the examination dates for BIOL 111 on July 28th.
This summer semester has been a struggle, as I have dealt with multiple illnesses throughout that have slowed down my process. It was a mystery to many what was happening; however, my hospital stay and the various tests provided great insight into my current condition.
Nevertheless, while in my summer courses, I devoted the designated time to ensure for the highest understanding of course material. Without doing this I would not have been able to participate in discussions and group work that facilitated the practice of concepts learned in course material. When choosing my summer courses I ensured not to overload myself with too many classes; only enrolling in courses which were requirements for graduation in my current degree program (environmental science, BscH) and classes which were relevant to my course of study. During this period of time, I did not seek employment, truly to focus on my coursework.
After my stay in the hospital, my body has not completely rehabilitated, as I am constantly tired and have no energy - thankfully this is gradually getting better with each passing day. The autoimmune disease has taken its toll on my body and my doctors believe that I should be focusing on treatment presently.
I am learning to cope with the new diagnosis, as it is quite the life alteration. I am learning ways via mentoring services to ensure that I am fit to go back to school in September. With the assistance of my doctors and counseling services, I am sure I will be able to return healthier and ready to tackle the new challenges that lay ahead of me.
Currently, my doctors do not advise that I write the exams due to my unstable health at the moment.
