Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Sir/Madam

My name is Alexander Ghai. I am a second year student in the faculty of art & science , and currently I have not declared my major of interest.
I took Biology 102 last fall and recorded an F grade which I believe to be a false representation of my ability in the course ,and therefore I place my request to drop Biology 102 offered in the fall term of 2015 as well as section A of maths 121 in the same term.
I had a rather difficult start when I first arrived at queen¿¿s university. I came after almost everybody in my class as the orientation concluded and I had a lot of catching up to do. Both in class and outside the class. At first , I struggled with understanding the professor specifically my Biology professor because of his ¿¿accent¿¿ (which I later discover to be just normal ) , and I believe this is because I came straight from East Africa with no prior knowledge or contact with North America. It did not take long before I blended in, unfortunately that was not the end to my nightmares.

In the mid -November last year I received some sad news from the family that my father had passed on. It was hard to take. I could not concentrate for weeks but I did not want to give up on my studies , so I decided to not talk about it and to move on but it did not go away either instead it got even worst , and afterward I had to share it with some close friends just to get it off my chest.
What followed thereafter was nothing but very poor grades in my fall exams. Besides getting F in Biology 102 I did not do well in maths 121 section A and ended up dropping section B in the winter as I recollected and put myself together for the winter.

I took summer class for maths 121. Unexpectedly suffered from rhabdomyolysis but got helped from the emergency department at Kingston General Hospital. This happened toward the end of April .Before classes and thought it would be fine when I started classes and I was doing fine until in may when I started to experience some abdominal pain and it destructed me a lot but the blame was on me. I should have dropped the course on the date line, so I am not appealing for that. I just wanted to bring that to light.

I so desire to start afresh this year by putting the problems I went through in the fall term behind me. In order to do that I really need a much better. More readable transcript which I kindly request in this appeal. I ¿m positive that this year will be different. I understand my professors now more than ever and the technology involved (i.e onq )is no longer foreign to me.I joined a peer mentor programs last winter and still planning to do this fall . The program has been super helpful especially on note-taking skills, and I am planning to even learn more from the program.

The only document I could find to confirm my father¿¿s demise would be in a form of a statement that may be provided and send by the office of the registrar . Getting the actual document would almost deem impossible due to luck of postal services and access to internet in that area where the incident occurred.

Yours sincerely

Ghai Alexander.
