Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),

My name is Vinothini Varnarajan (06342050) and I am currently a 3rd year student in the HLTH-M-BAH plan. I am appealing to late drop four courses, BIOL103, CHEM113, HLTH333, and PSYC100, without academic penalty, on the basis of a serious medical illness which required me to take the entire 2015 year off of school, to move back home to Toronto into the care of my family.

I have been struggling with a severe illness which began late 2014 and the entirety of 2015. Although I have successfully completed one course in the Fall of 2014 semester, my illness worsened during the end of the term. In fact, I was already struggling in the fall, although I was doing well. I managed to get an extension for my HLTH333 course that carried on into the new year and then into April and eventually pushed into June as my illness became worse. I eventually became too ill to even complete the course.

My illness worsened and I became hospitalized in September 2015. I was only able to complete one course from the fall of 2014, but as I became ill towards the end of the semester I was granted extensions on top of extensions in my HLTH333 course. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete this course from the Fall 2014 term, along with three other courses I was registered in for 2015.

As I was unable to complete the course and drop the course by the deadline due to health issues outside of my control (outlined in the Off-Campus Medical Certificates attached), I hope to be approved to late drop the courses, BIOL103, CHEM113, HLTH333, and PSYC100.
