Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Johanne Bénard,

I am appealing to the Faculty concerning adding and dropping a course after the add/drop deadline.

During course selection, I was unable to sign up for Spanish courses past the first year level as I did not have prerequisites, obviously, and so I signed up for SPAN 111 (Fall, 2016). I followed the advice given by the university representatives during the summer and waited until my first scheduled class to inquire to the professor regarding switching to a more appropriate class. She referred me to Dr. Jan Mennell and said she would be able to help me. I wish to obtain a medial in Hispanic Studies and so making the course plan for my years of study was challenging as there were courses I was too advanced for. By the time I finally made the plan with Dr. Mennell, we had already passed the deadline to switch into SPAN 351 (Fall, 2016).

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: After making a potential course plan with Dr. Mennell, she also put me up to date with the workload from SPAN 351. She has provided me with a PDF version of the textbook and I predict I will have read all the content by her next class; the 3rd of October, 2016. At this point in time, I also have a sufficient amount of time until the first essay is due. Taking this course this semester will allow me to take SPAN 352 (Winter, 2017) the following semester, earning me required credits towards the medial. Next year, I will take the required grammar credit courses in the beginner Italian courses. Unfortunately, I cannot take Spanish grammar but I can substitute the Italian grammar credits for Spanish credits.

I hope you understand my situation, Dr. Bénard, and take my request into consideration as these courses are mandatory for my medial.

Sincerely,
Andras Stefano Orioli, 20021309
