Academic Plan: ACADEMIC PLAN - Kiley Hyland
Queen's University

I was initially accepted into Queen's University for a Bachelor of Science (honours) in March of 2015. Since this time, I have completed my first year and I have declared a Life Science Major and Minor in Music in May 2016.

My future plans are to either pursue a graduate degree in biomedical research or seek employment after graduation. My current courses in Life Science have stimulated my interest in various fields such as genetics, pharmacology, and neuroscience.
I am a full time student. My extracurricular activities include being a member of the MEDLIFE Conference Committee and I am a volunteer with Women in Science and Engineering at Winston Churchill Elementary School.

My average in high school generally was between 85-90 and I have maintained good academic results in University. In 2015 - 2016, I received 3 A's, 3 B+'s and a B. I attended the arts school, Canterbury High School, for vocal music and I have always been involved in music throughout my life. Music is incredibly important for my academic success because it allows me to be a more well rounded student and develop skills that I may not develop elsewhere but that are transferable and effective. Music has also provided me with an outlet for my anxiety issues and stress.

I believe that I have always been an effective and successful student. I have consistent successful marks while maintaining other activities in my life. I have learned how to manage my time effectively and I have developed a great work ethic. I am well rounded so I am able to succeed when evaluated on various platforms.

I also think that I am a motivated student. I have consistently been capable of organizing and completing tasks on time and successfully. I have shown my motivation through my success at school, particularly in online courses that rely largely on self motivation.

I believe that my latency in registration is due to a communication error and my lack of proficiency with SOLUS. I did not ensure through SOLUS that I was enrolled as I did not think that that was a possibility.
