Petition Letter: I would like to make two formal requests towards the Queens board of Appeals for consideration. The two requests are to add ECON 111 past the academic deadline and to apply for a retroactive letter of permission.
The first request revolves around the issue that before the start of last of year¿¿s academic calendar I was interested in taking economics as a course elective out an interest in an introduction to academics. I hoped to take Microeconomics and Macroeconomics separately but due to conflicts and availability of the course I was forced to take ECON 110 (Taught by professor Ian Cromb), which offered both courses. In short I struggled with the work material and the understanding of the course concepts (not much of a math mind) and after the end of the exam of Economics and the results of my grades I reasoned that I my grade average couldn¿¿t handle continuing economics. I carefully calculated the total number of credits I needed and among them is the half-credit earned from economics, without it I fear the consequences.
The second request is for a retroactive letter of permission for which I need in order to obtain credits from the University of Alberta. Shortly before winter exams I had signed up with the University of Alberta to take a half credit course on permaculture in Cuba. I misunderstood the proper use of a letter of permission thinking that it was only needed for students taking oversea courses offered by universities outside Canada. I was mistaken and didn¿¿t fill out the permission form. Now after two months hard study and 15 page write up on my return to Canada, I¿¿ve been informed that I need this form in order to obtain the credits I earned. Just as with Econ the credits earned from this course are needed for my total 24 required first year credits.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: Hoping to go into 2nd year studies at Queens it is required that I need 24 first year credits. Six of these credits are divided between the requested Economics course, and course taken by the University of Alberta. I all I am requesting is that the work that I have completed be recognized and accepted so I can continue to study at Queens University. I made some silly errors in planning ahead but now I am wiser of the system and much more cautious when it comes to administrative duties that can make or break a persons academic plans.
