Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to appeal a transformation of my academic credits from Economics 111 & 112 to Economics 110 A&B, as well as Mathematics 121 to Mathematics 126. I had been asked to withdraw one year earlier this summer so I decided to re-take some of my courses. However, it has gone wrong with my choice of courses and I truly have to adjust two of them.
I admit, I made a big mistake at the beginning of this semester by taking respectively Economics 111 and Mathematics 121 instead of Economics 110 and Mathematics 126. Last year my grade suffered as a result in Mathematics 126, so in summer while facing such a poor academic performance I decided to take Mathematics 121 to replace my first-year result. Unfortunately I was not in Canada during the summer vacation, and I made a completely wrong decision because taking Mathematics 121 is useless to raise my grade in Mathematics 126. I really should communicate with the advisor or my professors firstly, but during the summer those burdens of study made me want to avoid everything and just focus on getting better grade this year. The situation of Economics 111 is slightly different from that of Mathematics 121. When I was in the first year, I have regarded Economics as my goal of major, yet I failed. I heard from some of my friends studied in Economics 111 and 112 saying these two courses are exactly the same with Economics 110. Therefore I thought it should work if I studied in Economics 111 and 112 to get into the major this year. However, I did not even think of two main problems. First, even 111 and 112 are the same with 110 in books and materials, those three courses are still not exactly identical. Second, like the mistake I made with my Mathematics 121 and 126, taking 111 and 112 cannot replace my poor academic performance last year.
I love Economics, and it would mean so much to me to graduate with a degree from Queen¿¿s University major in Economics. So far we had two assignments and two quizzes, and I did well in the second assignment and the second quiz with 90 and 85 marks respectively. I promise I will never made any mistakes like these again in the future, and meet with the advisor and my professors more often to communicate better with them from now on.
