REQUEST FOR DROPPING CURRENT COURSES AND
FORGIVENESS OF CURRENT FINES
DUE TO EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES

A. Plane ticket to Morocco to visit my seriously ill grandmother.
1. I, Mr. Slaoui, am a third-year student at Queen¿¿s University registered in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
2. I am making this appeal letter to drop all my current courses and receive forgiveness for the current fines accumulated in my account.
3. I am making these requests for the following reasons:
a. I have been raised by my grandparents, not my biological parents. As a result, I have a deep connection for my grandparents. Unfortunately, my grandmother¿¿s health has deteriorated sharply and I had no choice but to visit her in Morocco in mid-November;
b. Due to her ongoing health problems, I have been unable to focus on my studies since the start of this Fall semester;
c. My grandfather, who operates a small farm in Morocco, had been paying all my tuition fees and living expenses since first year. However, this year, due to the cost of my grandmother¿¿s surgery and ongoing treatment, he has been unable to send me any money to pay for my tuition fees at Queen¿¿s University; and
d. As a result, I have not been able to pay for my Fall semester tuition fees at Queen¿¿s. This, in turn, led to massive fines on my account.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: My plan is to stay in Morocco for two months from 15 November to 15 January. During this time, I hope to support her beside her hospital bed. Once I return to Canada, I hope to work part time or full time in Kingston from January 15 2017 to September 2017. Using the savings from this, I will continue to take courses from Queen¿¿s beginning from September 2017. By being financially independent in the future, I will be able to pay for my courses on time in the future.
