Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Please consider my appeal to drop
Math 406, and
Math 434
due to significant health problems. I have been seeing Dr. Anna Klein for health issues, for which she has referred me to Accessibility Services to arrange accommodations.
My illness began at the beginning of October, and I saw Dr. Klein on October 24. The illness has impacted my ability to sleep, to eat, to focus on my work, and has caused isolation and loss of my ability to cope with my course load. The drop period occurred during the time when I was initiating medication, and I was not able to predict my reaction to the treatment, so I missed the deadline. I am continuing to work with Dr. Klein and a counselor to achieve the results that will let me continue on my academic program.
My previous two years of academic work and activities have shown my ability to do my work well when I am not ill. I intend to continue my studies, and I have reviewed this course load with my advisor, Jason Harris, and we are in agreement that this plan, with a slightly lighter course load if necessary next semester, will allow me to proceed to graduation.
Please contact me for clarification on any of the above. I am attaching documentation from Dr. Klein to support this appeal. I appreciate this consideration.
Warm regards,
Emma Aslett
