Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am writing today to appeal for the 21-Day Appeal Timeline / One-Term Appeal Timeline to be waived (so in the future I can make an appeal for AG standing or an extension of an IN for ANAT 101).
A couple of weeks ago, I met with Spring Forsberg from the Faculty of Arts and Science (FAS) and learned that I could not write the final exam for ANAT 101 because the deadline to write the exam was supposedly the subsequent term following the winter term. However, I was not given this information, and in fact, rather told differently by the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences (via telephone from Marilyn McAuley) that I had at least one year (365 calendar day period) to write the ANAT 101 final exam and that they will send in my grade once I had written the final (this information was given to me at the beginning of June 2016). Furthermore, I also asked the department if I needed to appeal for this kind of situation, and Marilyn said I did not have to because she would send in the grade to the FAS once I had written the final exam.
Originally, this whole situation started when I was reviewing my degree plan and seeing that there was a Fail grade in ANAT on my transcript. I told Spring that Fail would be removed and that I was planning to write my final exam at the end of March / early April 2017 and therefore, my fail grade would be removed and replaced with a passing grade (again once I had written the final exam). Since the instructor provided no deadline for me to write the final exam, and I was verbally told by the department that I had until the end of the year to write it (from the date of the original final exam date), it was why I chose to write it at the end of March / early April 2017. Unfortunately, Spring Forsberg told me that this was not possible and the supposed deadline to write it was the end of the subsequent term, August 31, 2016 (the end of the summer term, which the deadline had clearly already passed when I learned about this situation in November).
Since I already learned about this situation way past the 21-day / One-Term deadline to appeal for my Fail grade for ANAT 101, it is why I am writing to you today to appeal for leniency on the 21- calendar day. Having learned this situation, I was very shocked initially because I had to go through an appeal process in order have my ANAT 101 exam count if I wrote it at the end of March / early April 2017 (since the department told me I did not need to go through the appeal process). Thus, my future plan is once this initial appeal of the 21-day period is granted, I can send another second appeal letter to appeal for ANAT 101 (a request for AG standing or an extension of the IN grade).
Also it's important to note that I am submitting this appeal now to waive the timeline now instead of right after I met with Spring is because I was in the middle of end-of-the-term assignments and exams. I was swamped and stressed with a lot of things on my plate during the time I learned about this situation.

Professional Letter Detail: No documentation to waive the 21-day appeal period. The only documentation I have was through speaking with Spring Forsberg. Documentation will be provided for my 2nd appeal.
