Petition Letter: I am writing this letter to request that my grades in Gender, Race, and Popular Culture (GNDS 125) and History of Modern Psychology (PSYC 397) be changed from F to DR on my transcript so that I can attain a higher GPA. I am looking to apply to a Nursing program and I have been advised that my current GPA will not be accepted for entry into the program. The details in the following paragraph outline the circumstances surrounding the two F grades that summer.
Since my early teens I struggled with my mental health. I was misdiagnosed with depression and struggled to cope for a long time. An unfortunate circumstance happened upon me during the summer of 2014 and I did not have the ability to participate in the classes I was enrolled in. I consequently left Queens University the following semester due to my condition. After this unfortunate circumstance took place my mental health spiralled out of control for a number of months. I was admitted to hospital twice in a six month period. After these hospitalizations and other medical appointments it was found that I had been misdiagnosed. This misdiagnosis left me unable to deal with the responsibilities of daily life, including submitting an appeal to change two grades on my transcript. It was not until recently (winter 2016) that I received the proper diagnosis of bipolar disorder and started receiving appropriate treatment.
