Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am submitting an appeal to drop a summer course that I am enrolled in. I am doing so as I cannot keep up with the coursework this summer do to an ongoing mental illness in which I suffer from. I have been attempting to deal with anxiety and depression, which I hope to have some more control over before I enter my final year of study at Queen's in the fall. I work full time as well, and for now I cannot handle this course as well as my job while I am dealing with this mental illness. I completed course work in this course, PHIL 111, until the end of June when it caused me immense stress in which I felt it would be best to drop it, and have a heavier course load in the fall.
I have enclosed a letter from my physician, who has outlined that I do receive medication for a mental illness. I also have a chronic illness as well which has been affecting my stress levels this summer. It is for both these reasons that I felt it was best that I drop this course. I would really like for the course not to be on my transcript for the reasons I have outlined above.
Thanks,
Olivia Bowden
