Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,
I'm inquiring to ask if I could have my current MATH 126 course deferred to next year (Fall 2017). I am unable to drop the course currently as I have a co-requisite course (ECON 212) preventing me from doing so. I would like to have it deferred as my current mark in the course is not substantial to where I would like it to be - I believe deferring the course will be better for overall academic development along with increasing my GPA. This won't affect my current status in ECON 212, I currently have 100 in the course, and the actual knowledge of calculus needed is minimal enough that I am able to work through it with relative ease.
I have been in touch with the Mathematics Department Undergraduate Chair (Dr. Lin), and he has accepted my request, and although the deadline to drop courses is March 3rd, he has asked me to submit an appeal.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am preparing to officially apply for a program change from BMUS to BAH with a major in Economics and a minor in Music this coming spring. I'm completing the remaining required courses this semester for the minor, am only one course away from fulfilling the electives portion and would then be working towards fulfilling the rest of the major.
Concerning this, I've been in contact with both Undergraduate Chair's from both departments. Dr. Lind (School of Music Undergrad Chair) has been in touch regarding this, and says there should be no issue regarding the Minor portion of this degree. I have yet to receive a response from Dr. Keay.
As I've mentioned in my appeal, I wish to defer MATH 126 as I initially struggled with the course. Having never taken calculus prior to university, then spending some time in a music focused program, it has been difficult. It is only now that the material has started to 'click' for lack of a better term. I wish to take this course again to ensure the material is absorbed fully, to achieve a higher grade, and most importantly - to ensure I succeed in later courses.
