Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To Whom it May Concern,

Firstly I would like to thank you for your time in considering this matter. I'm looking to waive the 21 day appeal date based on the following reasons.
In the fall term of 2015 I registered optimistically for online classes. I was pregnant at this time with my son who was due in December. After a very challenging pregnancy in which I was in and out of the hospital frequently I delivered my son early on November 13th, 2015. Looking back on this time I should have withdrawn from my courses once I had started dealing with my many health issues in late September. However my mental state was solely focused on the well being of my unborn son and myself. After the birth of my son we stayed in the hospital for 5 days well my son recovered in the NICU.
Two weeks after my son was born we received a devastating call that Grayson (My son) had tested positive for cystic fibrosis during his newborn screening. The next few weeks are a blur of dealing with my newborn and the harsh reality that he may have a life threatening genetic disorder. After a few tests were completed over a series of a month we were very fortunate to receive the news that Grayson is a carrier of the disease and won't likely face health challenges himself.
Over the past few years of dealing with the heart condition that effected my pregnancy so greatly I am finally back to a healthy version of myself. I will be the first to admit that during this year academics were not my priority. When I was well enough to return to studies in September of 2016 is when I discovered my require to withdraw notice. At this time I figured I would sit out my year and return to academics this coming summer as I realized I had missed the 21 day appeal time frame. After some positive guidance I learned that I may still have a chance to appeal my fails from the fall of 2015.
I want to be a better student and set an example for my son. If granted this appeal I know it will play a huge difference in my academic future.
