Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Yonghun Shin and I am currently in my 5th year majoring in economics at Queen¿¿s University. I am writing this request to appeal for two courses I took last semester (Fall of 2016). I also applied for an appeal last year and was fortunate enough to received one, but I found myself back in a similar position last semester as I was in before. Over the summer, I worked on self-control workbook that my residence counselor Freeman Woonugh had provided. I have also talked to my parents and opened to them of what I was going through during my fourth year. I also let my friends know that I was depressed and that I was seeing a counselor for help. Little did I know that I needed to keep up with seeking help. I believed that I was okay and that I was ready to finish off my courses at Queen¿¿s University. I took three courses last semester, a rather a light course load compared to my previous years. I thought I was ready and was back at being myself once again. But I was wrong. After October, I was back at where I was before. I rarely ate. I had a real hard time falling asleep. I didn¿¿t work out. Only saw friends only because I needed to be seen as doing fine. I got through one of the courses because I had a friend who almost dragged me out of my room every time, but I failed the other two courses.

On top of attending all my lectures, I¿¿ve seeing a counselor at La Salle regularly now. I used to see my counselor every week, but now we only see each other biweekly. I have been working out regularly at the gym. I now go about 5 times a week to relieve stress. I¿¿ve also kept my friend up to date about how I do. I feel that I¿¿ve became more open towards my friends about my status. I will not let myself fall back and repeat what I went through last year. I¿¿ve already made a mistake of believing that I was doing well when I wasn¿¿t. I will keep myself checked continuously. It is not over until it is over.
