Petition Letter: To whom this may concern,
My name is Emily Scott and I am appealing to drop the course, PSYC 235 (Abnormal Psychology), after the deadline. I recently visited an academic advisor to discuss my grades and ways to improve them. I have noticed in many of my classes that all my assignments and anything done on my own have received grades I am more than happy with. However, it has come to my concern that any tests or exams i complete are not done to the best of my ability. My mind tends to blank under certain circumstances, time limited exams being one of those. After looking through my courses with the academic advisor, she suggested that I seek further help with anxiety and look into the option of have accommodations during tests and exams. I have made an appointment to do that, and hopefully i can source the problem.
In regards to the course, PSYC 235, i am wishing to drop it because at this point, i don't think i will pass the course. The course is made up of six tests. There are no assignments and no tutorials. I attend every class, I study far in advance and am positive that if the professor were to ask me something about the course, i would be able to explain many topics in detail. However, i haven't passed four of the six tests we have had this year. I obviously can't blame my failure on the test itself, however, i do feel as i know the material, i just can't follow through with it in the pressure of the test.
I know it is a lot to ask and i understand if this request if out of reach. If there is any documentation i can follow up with after meeting with the counsellor, i can do that as well. I have hopes to be accepted into a different program and with my grade in this course, i will not have the GPA to do so. Thank you for your time and understanding.
Emily Scott.
