Petition Letter: Associate Dean,
I am appealing to drop POLS 212 and POLS 347 (Winter, 2014), as well as to potentially be exempted from my remaining three credits. I am a fourth year student on the verge of completing a general degree and would very much like to resolve this issue. I have been experiencing a degree of academic fallout for the majority of last (school) year do to medical issues. Although it has been a long standing issue I first went to the doctor at the end of January and again every two to three weeks since. I have also met with counselors on campus and the consensus is this issue could take significant time (well beyond the school year). To date the problem has actually regressed, despite medication. I had received extensions for other courses but my Professors (212 and 347) have recommended that I ask for the course to be dropped because I could not make up all the work. I fully agree and would love to simply put the year behind me. I have struggled for some time now and my number one concern is to simply finish. I feel as though I am in no state to continue my education, yet I require a degree. I apologize for the timing of this appeal (but I have been restricted). I have attempted to attach medical documentation to his form, please inform me if there is a problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Derek Mollenhauer
