Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean of Studies,
I am writing to request an appeal to waive the 21 day deadline(s)after grades submitted for the winter 2013 term, fall 2013 term, and the winter 2014 term. I am requesting to waive these deadlines in order to appeal to drop courses from these semesters.
From the winter 2013 and ongoing, I have been dealing with Post Traumatic Street as a result of an abusive relationship. I have been also dealing with related major mental health issues. I have found it extremely difficult to focus academically and to finish related work while simultaneously coping with major mental health issues and attempting to heal from related trauma. All have made me unable to request an appeal to waive the deadline, or appeal within the stated deadline, up until now. I am now ready to do so.
I have sought ongoing assistance related to these issues from professionals including, Hagar Prah an Outreach Counselor/ Student Advisor, Sarah Stier at K3C Counseling, and Dr. Simon O¿¿Brien a psychiatrist at Providence Care Mental Health. I can provide documentation upon request. Hagar Prah will be away until August 24th, but is able to provide documentation of our work together once they return.
