Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean of Studies,

I am appealing to drop KNPE 227 and KNPE 254 (Winter, 2017) as well as appealing to request agreotat standing in HLTH 237.
Due to the extenuating psychological challenges this semester, I have been unable to go to class since week 5 and haven¿¿t been able to complete a number of assignments, quizzes or receive participation grades which in turn continue to trigger these psychological challenges. Specifically, KNPE 227 and KNPE 254 have been the most difficult classes to attend, leaving much further behind in these courses and providing too much stress while I deal with these issues. HLTH 237 is a course that I believe I am able to succeed in, but an incomplete assignment of 30 won¿¿t allow me to be able to prove what I know with regards to the course. I started to go to counselling in November and continued slightly through January before the psychological challenges began to hinder my ability to leave my room.
To ensure future academic success, I am planning on retaking KNPE 227 and KNPE 254 next year or whenever it is able to be fit. Currently, I am working through a process with counselling services and the Regional Assessment and Resource Centre to get a better understanding of myself which may result in a diagnosis. Once the assessment is complete, I will work with academic advisors and counselling services to make sure that I have the right systems in place to succeed. I will work diligently to make sure that I catch up on all of the work for my remaining courses to achieve the academic standing that I know I am able to provide.
