Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Faculty of Arts and Science,
I am appealing the Associate Dean¿¿s decision of denying my request to drop Film 260. I feel that the specifications of eventuating circumstances where met with my case. Please know that I absolutely respect the quality of a degree at Queen¿¿s and do not believe that this case is not worthy.
The time span that the events described in my previous appeal took place in about a week or so. That is a short time frame to attempt to deal with the upcoming deadlines of the course and the hurdles I was facing at the time. If the professor of the course had been more understanding this may have had a happy ending. Unfortunately, she was not understanding of my situation which caused me to fail the course. With the little time frame I was also unable to get the help of a professional. The events took place the week of, day prior, and/or day of deadlines. This leaves little time for me to have found help similar to that of HCDS or a computer specialist to fix my problem. In addition, this took place after the drop date of the course where I was doing well in the course before these events. In a fast pace online course a week may be vital to your success.
The hurdles I faced were time (strict unforgiving deadlines in a short time frame), emotional, and physical. These cause me to be unable to complete the course. The emotional aspect took a toll on me to a point where I was unable to coop with anything, life or school. The physical aspects included my inability to connect with my moodle account to complete an online assignment and final exam. In all cases, the professor was notified and did not seem to care. The combination together was too much to handle and I did not have the resources to do so.

Although, I do not have supporting documents to support my case I plan to go to HCDS in September with my return to Kingston. I hope to acquire the documentation for my situation and coop with the events of this June.

Please give me a chance to do so.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Keen
