New Information: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),

I am writing to you today to inform you that the worsening of my familial situation has led me to come to the decision that dropping POLS385 may be a more responsible choice than requesting a Credit Standing. As stated in my letter and in my documentation, my mother has been battling her mental health issues for a while but even more so after my grandparents passed earlier this semester. Because of this I have not been able to perform well in POLS385 as it requires stata a program only available without charge on Campus, as well as regular attendance of the course to understand the content. I got a tutor, I tried extremely hard, but there is just too much for me to catch up on before the exam. As I have been away caring for my mother during this terrible time for my family, and as she along with the rest of my family are my priority at the moment, I humbly request the ability to drop this course as I can hopefully take it next year properly and do my very best at it and get a grade on my transcript. After much deliberation, this seems to me as the best step, as I am not certain I will pass the course. My apologies for the late notice, but I really wanted to try and succeed in the course before I came to this extreme decision. I just want to learn the course to its full extent next year, and actually benefit from it. Please try to understand where I am coming from. I plan on keeping a tutor into next year, and I have multiple counselling sessions with Student Wellness planned for this upcoming week to help sort through everything during this trying time.
