Petition Letter: I am appealing to drop PHAR 100.
This semester, I struggled immensely with my mental illness, which made it very difficult to do well in the course I was enrolled in. I was able to defer my exam, however, before the exam, I was being treated for suicidal ideations, which made it difficult to study. During the semester, I was also being treated for suicidal ideations as well as major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. My mental illnesses strongly interfered with my ability to function well at university, as they were very debilitating. Dealing with suicidal ideations, constant panic attacks, and psychiatric appointments made it very difficult to complete assignments, study, attend online tutorials/meet deadlines. Now, my family physician and I have a great treatment plan set for the spring and summer months; I plan on focusing all my efforts on my mental health during the summer months, so I can focus all my efforts on my studies at Queen's in the fall.
