Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am writing this letter to appeal to drop Chemistry 282 (Winter, 2017) due to medical extenuating circumstances.
Around the beginning of March, I fell on my dominant wrist. This affected my academics during March and April as I was only able to write or type for short periods of time due to the pain. I was also unable to seek medical help as the final month in my final semester was an extremely busy time for me. In a course like Chemistry 282, where a lot of the studying is done through solving problems by hand, this was extremely detrimental. This injury only occurred after the final deadline to drop a course so I had no reason to drop the course before. I had done well in the lab portion of the class obtaining an A- so before my wrist injury I had believed I would pass the course. I still thought I would still manage to pass the class despite my injury, but I was wrong. Without this injury, I would have been able to prepare adequately for my final exam and pass the course, as I only needed to pass the exam to pass the course due to my success in the lab portion. Due to these factors, I was unable to drop the course before the deadline.
Now that I am back home and hopefully finished with school, I have time to visit a doctor to diagnose my wrist injury. If my appeal is successful, then I will graduate from Queen¿¿s with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I hope you give me this chance to graduate. Thank you for considering my appeal.

Sincerely,
