Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean of Studies,
This requests your permission to retake PSYC 100 during the current summer semester to boost my mark from a B- in order to meet the requirements for acceptance into the Psych Major program in Year Two.
As background, I did enroll in PSYC 100 last Thursday May 4, prior to the deadline but then accidently dropped it. However when I tried to re-enroll online on Friday May 5, it wouldn't allow me to, showing the course as full.
Since Friday afternoon, I have been in contact with a number of Queen's staff to understand my options including Allison Leverette the Assistant Undergraduate Chair in Psychology, Phil Kocher in the Continuing and Distance Studies department and Carrie in Student Services. Unfortunately since the deadline has passed they told me that I would need to submit this appeal. Apparently there are still open seats in this course.
Regarding my academic plan, I realize that I've missed a week but I have already taken the course (B-), it is still quite fresh in my mind and I don't start my summer job until July so I can focus full-time on the course. I am confident that I will be able to catch up and do well.
I have received support for my this appeal from the course instructor Katharine Bailey, provided that the appeal allows me to enroll by noon on May 11th, and from the Undergraduate Chair.
Thank you for your consideration. Please call with any questions.
Respectfully,
Reid Syrydiuk
