Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Julia Ramadhar and I am a current student at Queens University going into my third year of studies. I am writing this appeal letter in regards to an online course I took during the winter semester called PHAR100. I am asking for an appeal due to the fact that I was extremely sick during the exam period with pharyngitis and strep throat. I was medically diagnosed with these viral infections on the 15th of April, which was about a week before my PHAR100 examination. I was very ill and knew I would greatly underperform in my exams and sent a friend to talk to an academic advisor for me about this issue. They were unable to assist me as they said it was too late to defer my exam. Through out the semester I maintained around a 70 average but it was a requirement to pass the exam in order to pass the course, which I knew I would not be able to do.
I am writing to appeal my final exam grade to the Associate Dean due to the fact that I was seriously ill and this was an uncontrollable factor in the determination of my final grade.
