Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I had to leave Queens University for medical reasons prior to writing my final two exams in the first semester.
At the time I contacted the health and disability services as well as my professors regarding this issue. I was not given timeline or any other information other than that once my health improved I should make contact again and would be able to write my examinations at that time. However my health did not improve in the second semester and additionally is still not 100 so I have decided to stay at home to continue my schooling here.
I had been in contact with my professors for my courses BIO 110 and ECON 222 as well as Mary Acremen (Health and Disability Services) but was not aware that in the meantime I would be awarded F's in both of these courses. At this time I have decided to transfer to a university closer to home and upon speaking with Jane Cullen she informed me that at this point it would best to appeal to have the course dropped in order to have it not effect my transcript negatively.
I understand that this appeal is of an untimely matter but I was not made aware of any timelines regarding missing exams due to a medical emergency resulting in an F being received. Had I known I would have submitted this appeal much earlier along with my other appeals.
I have documentation from both my General Practitioner as well as specialist Dr. Lynda Phillips regarding these medical issues. I hope to have this issue resolved as soon as possible and therefore avoid losing my conditional acceptance due to this transcript problem. Jane Cullen (Academic Advisor) is aware of my situation and let me know that this appeal would be the fastest and most effective way of dealing with this issue.
Thank you for your continued help in this matter,
Taylor Greer
