Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am submitting an academic appeal with the hope that my grades from the previous year may be exchanged into standing credits. I understand that appeals should be made within two weeks of being given your grades however I was unaware that appeals could be made until very recently. If this can be overlooked then I am confident that I can provide substantial medical documents that will explain how my ability to perform in my studies was severely affected during the school year. Currently there is some documentation of my illness in my files, please let me know if you require additional documentation.
I was diagnosed with having a moderate to severe mood disorder during the year of 2014, I am currently taking medication that makes this mental disorder manageable, however this has not always been the case. It required many months of experimenting with different medications before my mood was stabilized and regrettably my grades suffered during this transitional phase. While undergoing treatment I was presented with many barriers that I was otherwise forced to overcome. The following is a list of symptoms and adverse effects that accompanied my mental disorder: Depression, anxiety, mild insomnia, suicidal thoughts, lack of concentration, lack of energy, nausea and poor appetite. These extenuating circumstances affected my academic performance substantially and prevented me from being able to attend lectures and actively study. I humbly request that the Faculty of Arts and Science may look over the following information I¿¿ve provided and consider if I am eligible for an academic appeal. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Sebastien Raps
