Petition Letter
Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I am appealing to drop the courses of the 2015/16 academic year from my transcript because I was contending with severe mental health challenges, i.e. addiction and bipolar 1 disorder. I was homeless in Toronto for most of the fall 2015 semester until I got help near the end of November. I was then admitted into detox at the end of 2015. I did not participate in any of my courses whatsoever as I was not even in Kingston. During the entirety of the 2015/16 academic year I was either in the throes of addiction or actively recovering. From detox in late 2015, I went into a homeless shelter, then 3 months of treatment, and then finally abstinence-based transitional housing ever since.
I am extremely grateful to be able to say that I'm now past that very dark chapter of my life. I am hopeful that you are understanding of my extenuating circumstances and grant my appeal to drop the courses from that period.
Thanks,
Abdisalam Musse
