Petition Letter: Dear Undergraduate Associate Dean,
On May 30th I suffered a nervous breakdown. On June 2nd, after my parents had gone to sleep, I entertained a certain thought, and nearly acted on it. What stopped me, was a phone call to GOOD2TALK.
In said phone call I told the woman on the line, Robin, what I had been considering and my reason for considering. In regards to school work, I had a hard time concentrating. I would constantly need to reread material as my mind would drift into dark thoughts. On days where these thoughts would be prominent, I would go to sleep in hopes of having these thoughts and feelings pass. Any time I would attempt to have a normal routine, attempt to do school work, these thoughts would re-emerge and halt any progress I made. At no point during all of this had I considered anything out of the ordinary. I had been suffering from these thoughts for months, and believe a change of scenery might help. Having moved back to Toronto from Kingston in May I realized this was not the case, and that this was the norm for me. It was not until the night of June 2nd, where I made the phone call to GOOD2TALK, spoke to Robin, that I was made aware of what I was experiencing.
Through her support and direction, I was able to garner the strength needed to find help. On June 8th I was diagnosed with depression, was prescribed Anti-depressants and was wait listed to see a psychiatrist. I remain on anti-depressants, with my dosage increased, and remain wait listed to see a psychiatrist.
