Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: In the fall of 2016 I was put in a very stressful position as I felt that I was extremely mistreated by QSAS, this prohibited me from having a relationship with this department and caused an extreme delay in my academic progress in the fall. It also took a toll on my mental health and I did not complete first term work until January.

Because I had no relationship With QSAS, as my mental health deteriorated I had no one to help to make sure that I had accommodations or supports in place.

I submitted a doctors note to professors on Feb 09 - the note explained that I've been dealing with illness since January. This letter was also submitted to McMaster professors. Where I was receiving support from the McMaster equivalent of QSAS. I dropped of my McMaster courses due to having to commute to the campus this felt like a good decision.

As the exam period approached, there was a conflict with my exam accommodations and dealing with this conflict only exasperated the issue surrounding my mental illness and prevented me from continuing to do the work as I originally intended. It also prevented me from being able to study or function for the exam for this chorus. I'm forced me to prioritize my McMaster required class for me degree over this elective.

I'm appealing both dropping the class and the financial credit for the class due to what I feel to be miss treatment and human rights issues I understand that in giving me the credit this is not cleans acknowledging that they agreed that this is a human rights issue but it is Queens acknowledging that there were extenuating circumstances, and supporting me in my education.
