Appeal to Transfer 6.00 Units from a Host Institution

Dear Associate Deans,

I am a biology-psychology SSP (BIPS) student at Queen¿¿s University, and am requesting to appeal the restriction on number of courses transferable from a host institution to Queen¿¿s. I have finished four years of my degree, and require 15.00 more units to complete it.
Of the last 15.00 units outstanding in my degree, 3.00 are of the core requirement, Molecular Biology BCHM218, as well as 6.00 required units of General Chemistry CHEM112. The remaining 6.00 units may be allotted to elective courses. I wish to fulfill all these requirements at local universities so I may live at home in Toronto, as I can no longer afford to live in Kingston to study on Queen¿¿s campus.

I cannot afford to live in Kingston any longer due to complex familial circumstances; my surviving parent is not able to support me financially. I independently finance my education and associated fees, and have done so throughout my post-secondary education. Continuing more than 6.00 units of courses at a host institution will allow me to remain in on-campus courses, which I strongly feel benefit my learning and academic performance, as opposed to sole enrollment in online courses. During this period of study at a host institution, I will live at home which will provide financial relief.

I am currently enrolled as a visiting student at University of Guelph, and am attempting to enroll as a visiting student at University of Toronto Mississauga campus as well. I am now in the process of applying for visiting student status at UTM. My strong preference is to enroll exclusively at UTM. However, until I receive admission to UTM as a visiting student, I will retain my visiting student status at University of Guelph to secure my plan to take courses on a campus.
The courses available to me as a visiting student at University of Guelph and UTM include the equivalents of General Chemistry, Developmental Psychology, and Social Psychology, all of which are transferrable to Queen¿¿s. The courses in psychology will serve as elective courses at 6.00 units, total. I have sent the syllabi of introductory molecular biology from University of Guelph and from UTM to Queen¿¿s Department of Biochemistry, and am still waiting for confirmation that one or both courses transfer. In the case that they do not, I will enroll in Queen¿¿s Molecular Biology BCHM218 through Distance Studies.

I wish to enroll in up to 15.00 units at one of the mentioned host universities from September 2017 to the spring of 2018. Provided admission to UTM, I will only enroll in UTM courses.
Transferring more than 6.00 units from a host institution is a vital step in the pursuit of my degree, as completing on-campus courses will allow me to resume a rich learning experience while maintaining financial stability.

Please accept this appeal ¿¿ it is a crucial step towards the completion of my degree, and is very important to me. If you wish further information, please feel free to contact me at (647) 648-4918.

Thank you for your consideration of my appeal.

Best regards,
