Petition Letter

Petition Letter: The course that I am appealing to get into is the Queen's Jazz Ensemble, which is a course that you have to audition to get into. Once you have completed a successful audition, the list of students who made it into the class is forwarded to the music office and from there, you are placed into the class by the staff there. I successfully auditioned to get into the class during the first week of classes and waited for a confirmation to get into the course. However, I did not hear anything about my status until the Thursday night of second week of classes, when I received an email saying that I one of the courses that I was enrolled in for second semester conflicted with the jazz ensemble. They then asked if I wanted them to drop that class and add Jazz for me, but they had to know by Thursday at 5pm. I did not receive this email until 6 pm so I had no chance of replying that day. The next morning, which was the last day to add classes, I sent an email asking if they could still drop the course and put me in the Jazz ensemble. I did not receive any reply until 4:15 saying that they could do it but only until 4:30, which gave me a fifteen minute window to reply. However, I was driving back from Toronto until 5, and as a result was not able to check my phone to see this email in time. I am making this appeal in the hopes that I can still be enrolled in the Jazz ensemble as I have gone to every rehearsal this year, as well as the fact that I made it into the class on time and was not able to pick up the class by myself at any point.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I was a part of this ensemble last year and it taught me a lot and really progressed me as a musician. On top of that, I work hard in it and hope to once again get a good grade in it.
