Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Deans (Studies),

I am writing to you today because I wish to submit an appeal related to adding a course after the last official deadline. The course which I wish to add is GEOL 401 - Field Studies in Geology 2 which is offered in the current semester (fall). The reason that I am submitting an appeal to add this course is because I was unaware that I needed a faculty override to take this course, and as a result of that I had not properly enrolled in the course before the last date. This error has stemmed from nothing more than miscommunication between myself and the faculty of geological sciences. This is a mandatory course that is needed for my program (Bachelor of Science Honours - Geological Science), and it is the last course I need in order to graduate.

I understand that I need to provide a plan for how I will catch up for work missed so far, but you should know that this course is solely a 5 day field excursion which takes place from Oct 10th - 14th 2017. This time period is the only component of the course needed to receive full credit, and as you can see I am submitting this appeal well before the course begins.

I have also attached a scan of an academic change form which has been reviewed and signed by the instructor of the course, Dr. Noel James, as well as reviewed by the faculties undergraduate assistant, Larke Zarichny.
