Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Unfortunately, for the past year or so I have been struggling with the consequences of my parent's separation. It is irrational to feel guilty or to blame yourself when these things occur, but nevertheless i do feel guilt and culpability at times. Virtually all my work in my courses has been affected in one way or another, since this is an issue that I always have in the back of my mind and cannot turn off simply because a due date is coming up or because I have a test. I have dealt with frequent frights and disagreements between my parents on all manner of things, as these tend to accompany the various legal procedures needed to dissolve a marriage, change property titles etc. Often, I and my sibling have been forced to take sides in various disputes, resulting in us upsetting one of our parents or another. As I result, my relationship with both my parents has faced challenges that it has never faced previously. I have spoken with a doctor concerning this situation and its effect on me. I have managed to keep up my grades decently well; all I am asking for is the permission to join a course for which I missed a deadline, because there were other matters on my mind.
