Petition Letter: To whom this may concern,
My name is Nathan Cantor and I am a fourth-year biology major.
I am appealing to officially add BIOL 540 - a full year research mentorship course - into my timetable this year.
I have currently been in the lab, completing all the required coursework (i.e., lab practicum, research, attending seminars, etc.) since the beginning of the fall semester in September. The reason why I am appealing to add the course late is that I had to finalize my proposal and get it approved by the undergraduate chair of biology (Dr. Bill Nelson) before I could officially add the course on SOLUS. Because it took a few weeks to finalize the details of the research project, I didn't get the paperwork in on time to Dr. Nelson. He has since approved the proposal, along with my instructor/supervisor Virginia Walker, but I now have to make a formal appeal since we are past the date to add/drop courses.
An academic plan or making up missed coursework will not be required since I've been in the lab completing all the components of the course since the beginning of the year anyways - I just wasn't officially registered on SOLUS.
Dr. Walker is aware of this appeal process and the rest of my supporting documentation (i.e., Dr. Walker's/Bill Nelson's approval, the finalized proposal, etc.) are currently with an administrator of the appeals office.
