Petition Letter: To whom may concern,

I am applying for an exemption in order for me to drop ECON371
¿
I realize you probably hear many excuses but I hope you read my letter and understand my situation.
¿
I have been struggling with many mental health issues for some time and have recently reached out for help to try and to get the treatment I need. I have been seeing a psychologist, Rachel Williamson, in Oct of this year who has strong intention to believe that I might be bi-polar. I have attached receipts for these visits. To determine if I am bipolar I need a full assessment which takes time to schedule. The psychiatrist that performs this assessment is not back from vacation until early December but I am trying to get this scheduled. I am also trying to get in to see Anne Duffy at Queen¿¿s Health Services. I have attended one counseling session with on November 23rd. My counselor also wrote a letter helping with the appeal process and was told I couldn¿¿t attach it to my appeal but must be sent in separately. I have also scheduled appointments at Queens Health Services for Dec 11 and Dec 20 in order to continue counseling which I know I need.

I am suffering from severe depression and I am having severe anxiety attacks followed by episodes of severe obsessive behavior. I want to get better and I am doing my best to seek treatment. I have been unable to focus on my studies as there are days I cannot get out of bed. I am trying to focus this semester on a few courses that I require to stay in the Economics program which is the main reason I am in Queens.

I am hoping you can allow me to drop this one course without penalty. With the proper diagnoses and treatment, I am committed to resuming my studies in the new year.

Please advise if you can grant me this exemption.
