Petition Letter
Petition Letter: This letter serves to appeal for a late drop of ENGL 290 and ENGL 271, courses I was enrolled in during the 2017 fall term.
Although I spent this summer working on my mental health, during the course of this past semester my depression and anxiety returned in full force.¿ This caused difficulty attending class and subsequently completing work. The worsening in my mental health also caused influx of psychosomatic migraines in addition to my already prevalent migraine disability. All these conditions made it excessively difficult to catch up once I had fallen behind.
Having improved my mental health over the summer I over estimated my ability to come into this school year with a full course load, not accounting for the added burden of maintaining my living space. I am very committed to my education and it deeply saddens me that my mental health has had such a negative impact on it.
Next semester I intend to take 2-3 courses that I can pour all my focus into. I have weekly skype calls already set up with my social worker to help make sure my depression and anxiety maintain under control.
Thank you in advance,
Ariana Kuperman
