Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern:

I have had issues adding Nursing 323 to my timetable. My account was on hold and I was unable to add courses for my fall semester. I have experienced some financial difficulties during the summer as I was laid off from my summer job and have been experiencing delays with my OSAP. I was able to pay what I could for this semester and plan of having my balance and the cost of the two other courses I require by September 30th.

With financial difficulties aside, I have been having relatively poor academic progress in some courses including my previous attempt at Nursing 323 due to some unforeseen and personal difficulties. The at two years my significant other has been battling alcoholism and has only recently (the past two months) gotten help through a rehabilitation program in Toronto (Renascent). I have lived with her for two and a half years and this has made things difficult the past few academic sessions. I have been battling rather serious depression since and it has really taken its toll on my academics. With this being said, i am getting help and have made much progress in my cognitive approaches to my depression and my significant others problems. I feel adequately prepared to continue with my academics and feel both motivated and determined to finish my degree in Health with honours status.

In order to continue forward with my degree and take some required courses in the future, including gaining fourth year status, I must successfully take Nursing 323. I know I am late in adding the course and have now missed two weeks, however I am prepared to make up the missed work and have already been in contact with the professor and T.A.'s.

I plan on having my OSAP processed within the week and if that does not go through in time my mother has agreed to pay the balance off. I am seeking gainful part-time employment while I finish my degree and this will help compliment my living expenses.

I was hoping to add this course as soon as possible and was unable to do so and instructed to appeal the hold on my account to go through with this process.

I appreciate your time and consideration regarding this matter and hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience. I understand it is a busy time of year.

Thank you.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: To whom it may concern:

In order to continue forward with my degree and take some required courses in the future, including gaining fourth year status, I must successfully take Nursing 323. In order to prevent another failed attempt there are steps I am implementing in order to successfully complete the course (if allowed to add it).

First, I have eliminated a major stressor in my life as my significant other is recovering from alcoholism. She is serious about her journey and seems in a better state if mind. Furthermore, i have been getting help with my depression and feel in the proper state of mind to successfully complete the few courses required to gain my degree.

Secondly, I have been in constant communication with the professor of Nursing 323 as well as T.A.'s. I have the required textbook an have been reading the required material and practising sample problems to better hone my statistical ability.

I plan on continually keeping in contact with my professor and attending all tutorials to gain any help when I do not fully understand the material. I will attend all lectures and spend at least an hour a day working on sample problems and practising the material learned that lesson.

I am confident that this time around i will be adequately prepared cognitively to successfully complete this course. I feel that with personal problems in the past and an honest approach with myself regarding comprehension of the material will lead to my completion of Nursing 323.

I appreciate your time and consideration regarding this matter. Thank you for your time.
