Subject: Academic Appeal by Daniel Wang (Student ID: 20019680)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am appealing to drop CISC 124 and get credit standing position for CISC 220, the two courses I took in Fall 2017 with unsatisfactory exam results and grades due to my physical illness during the exam period.
I could not write the exams with acceptable performance due to my physical illness as I got a bad flu with headache and exhaustion before the exam date of Dec. 8, 2017 for CISC 124, together with my chronic problem of heat hives during the past three years, which hinders me from socializing on campus as when I am nervous or exercise, I cannot sweat and the hive will make me painful in the body with rashes. Although I have been treated with a monthly injection for the heat hive and other pills, my situation has not improved a lot, and I got the hives a few times daily during the exam period. Therefore, the bad flu and the stress during the exam period made my health situation even worse and beyond my control. I was not aware that I could ask for deferring a exam when I was not fit for taking it. This is a huge lesson learned.
Because of the F grade for CISC 124, I am not allowed to take the CISC courses in Winter 2018 where CISC 124 is the prerequisite. I have registered to retake CISC 124 this term, and choose three courses in social sciences area, plus CISC 271. I request to have the previous CISC 124 dropped from my course history. For CISC 220 with D- grade, I request to have credit standing in this course, and I will retake it when the course is offered this summer or take a comparable course at the University of Ottawa this summer if possible. I will do more practice on using the programming languages after class and get more socialized with course instructors and peers. I also plan to graduate within 5 years with more satisfactory academic performance.
Attached is my family doctor note to prove that I visited her office before the exam week when I returned home for study. For my chronic heat hive problem, my specialist is Dr. Simon Farim who can reached at 613-2481010, and the Xpose program who administers the injection for me can be reached at 1-866-9965247. I do hope that my appeal can be granted, and I appreciate your support and accommodation to my situation. Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to your favourable response.

Regards,
Daniel Wang
